Week 1 - Concept Development and Material Testing

Duncan and I decided to create a safety add-for your phone. We wanted to protect one's phone from would-be thieves or potential physical damage by creating a concrete enclosure. To allow calling functionality we are planning on wiring buttons throughout the concrete.

We're planning on securing the concrete with padlocks and chains, making it so that it can be carried around like a pouch. The internals will contain a phone. An external battery and a speaker device that can be connected via thunderbolt.

One thing that we have been wondering about is how to get connected devices to be recognized as an external speaker. We're wondering if we can spoof media playback or call buttons on the phone using a connected device.

We're testing concrete pours with existing molds to see if we can create something with the desired finish, we may experiment with perlite and other mixtures.
